Yesterday!
We had Killie's appt yesterday with Dr. Smith and OMG I'm in love! I feel so good with her as Killie's urologist! We got there she did the usual history run down then talked to us (with pictures) about where everything is how it works and so on. Then she pulled up Killie's films which thanks to Midland Memorial were not the best but still doable. She went through all the films and explained what we were looking at. Now for the really reason you are reading this blog, surgery is a.... (suspense).... A NO GO!!!!!!!!! For now at least. She wants to first get Killie's bowl problems under control by putting her on miralax and getting her regular. In the films you could see all the #2 stuff built up in her no wonder shes cranky! Then she wants to change Killie's preventive antibiotic to a different brand. Two reasons for this 1. she is having a rash to the current antibiotic 2. Its more likely to prevent anymore e. coli UTI infections. Then she wants to have a Mag test run, this test is a nuclear test so we have to wait till January when the die gets to Lubbock. The following link gives you more details. She will have to be slightly drugged to help keep her from moving. This is to check for kidney damage. Mag Test Then in 6 months she wants to do another VCUG there in Lubbock to see if some of her problems were caused by all the build up in her intestines. She did say that Killie is a grade 4 reflux with a bladder hutch. Which means there is not enough muscle on top of her ureters to keep her bladder from flowing back into the kidneys. Which in terms means that we could have surgery in 6 months! It was a great appt though! And she did say she has been proven wrong and that patients have fixed this problem on there own. So now lets just hope for no more UTIS!! TTFN
